At Planck Energies, our cooperative team of experienced engineers and scientists allows us to push the boundaries of renewable energy technology.
With over 12 years of energy-focused research under his belt, Dr. Yi Zheng confidently leads Planck Energies to make vital contributions to a sustainable future. Dr. Zheng earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University and currently holds a professorship with expertise in classical and nanoscale energy science at Northeastern University, where he directs the Nano Energy Laboratory and conducts research related to advanced energy materials and clean energy applications. An entrepreneur and professor with a diverse background in engineering, science, business, law, and the arts, Dr. Zheng resides in Boston and continuously collaborates with key figures in academia and industry.
Born in a developing country, Dr. Zheng recognizes the significant contributions that green energy makes to both employment and quality of life, aiming to benefit a wide array of communities all over the world. Raised by parents both working in the environmental protection agency, Dr. Zheng’s principal goal is to reduce climate change and advance low-emission energy solutions, aiming to address the emerging world’s energy and water crises. Saluting Max Planck, the world-renowned theoretical physicist who discovered blackbody radiation and energy quanta and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918, Dr. Zheng founded Planck Energies to provide costeffective, sustainable and efficient energy products and solutions.
Andrew brings a valuable combination of product design, engineering management and innovative research expertise to Planck Energies. After earning a degree in mechanical engineering, Andrew joined the booming semiconductor industry as a design engineer, gaining complex design experience while also overseeing a team of engineers. He then obtained his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University in 2024, with research focused on progressive clean energy technologies.
As the CEO, Andrew applies his wide-ranging skill set to guide both the business and scientific aspects of Planck Energies.
As a veteran of government relations and an advisor to election campaigns, Gary’s expertise in marketing and communications is integral to the growth of Planck Energies. He leverages his extensive connections in government, business, community-based organizations and professional nonprofits within Planck Energies to maximize the impact of its renewable energy technologies.
By holding high-ranking offices in many local organizations, such as the New England Chinese American Alliance and the Massachusetts Chapter of the United Chinese American, Gary has exemplified his ability to lead multidisciplinary teams efficiently and effectively. As the CMO, his firsthand knowledge of governmental and business networks provides key market opportunities to Planck Energies.
Nate initially joined Planck Energies as an intern after earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University. Following a fruitful summer, Nate was brought on as Planck’s first full-time engineer. He brings with him a strong background in the development of sustainable energy systems and R&D from co-op positions held during his undergraduate studies at Northeastern.
Passionate about environmental and energy justice, Nate is highly motivated to develop sustainable energy solutions with the potential to improve quality of life in developing regions and mitigate climate change globally.
As lead engineer, Nate is applying his skillset and experience to the scientific and development aspects of Planck Energies’ technology while also contributing to fundraising and business efforts.
